WWE is said to have interest in IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, KUSHIDA. The promotion appears to be interested in signing as many talented wrestlers as they can these days.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, however, WWE believes they have a shot at landing KUSHIDA.
“Kushida is a name has been talked about for weeks and we’ve been hearing more and more about it,” Dave Meltzer wrote. “He’s under contract to New Japan until the end of January so we shouldn’t be hearing his name, but WWE has been more forward about trying to get people and not caring about contracts.”
It should be noted, however, that this report does not confirm Kushida is interested in WWE. It only confirms that the Wrestling Observer has heard from people who believe they have a shot at signing him.
WWE is also believed to have sent Tetsuya Naito feelers recently. Naito addressed the situation in comments to Tokyo Sports. Chris Charlton supplied the translations:
https://t.co/lCYX6Fm3Ze Naito received a WWE offer after Dominion and turned it down. ‘I didn’t even give it thought. This New Japan ring is already the world’s number 1 stage. The fans know this. That’s why I think we should focus on our home crowd before looking international’

“You should understand that I have no interest in ‘WWE Superstar’ Chris Jericho ring,” Naito continued. “What I want to do is get revenge for what happened in a New Japan ring, in a New Japan ring.”
