We are just a little over 2 weeks away from AEW’s Double or Nothing event from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Despite this, details regarding all the ways fans can watch the show have yet to be released. Part of the reason for this is the streaming service which Double or Nothing is to air on will likely be related to the television station AEW TV is expected to begin airing on every week starting in October.
This issue was addressed recently by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter:
“There will be a streaming component in the U.S. that is expected to be announced within the next week,” wrote Dave Meltzer. “There is a strong chance that the streaming service that carries the show in the U.S. will be tied in with the television station that will carry the weekly television show in the fall.”
One of the hold-ups preventing the deal from being announced already appears to be the day and time which AEW TV will air.
“One of the hold-ups in finalizing the deal will be the time slot, which will be determined by the U.S. station that gets the show. When that time slot is finalized, final negotiations for outside the U.S. can be finalized.”
Reportedly, the show will air on either Tuesday or Wednesday nights from 8 to 10 PM.
Right now the leading candidates would be either Tuesday or Wednesday night, probably 8-10 p.m. Eastern. The idea would be to air the show live in the U.K., which would be 1-3 a.m., if such a deal can be put together.
All Elite Wrestling TV Deal
Last month, Jim Ross and Conrad Thompson dropped several ominous statements during a podcast. Many of them seem to allude to a potential television deal for All Elite Wrestling.
JR said on his podcast that he was asked about doing the new WWE in-studio show on FS1 in the fall but now that he’s signed with AEW, he still expects to be on television Tuesday nights.
“So that show starts in October?” Thompson asked in regards to AEW TV.
“That’s what it says,” a coy Ross responded.
“And it’s on Tuesday in October?” Thompson’s first follow-up question stated.
“Yep,” responded JR.
“You reckon you might be on TV in October on Tuesdays?” Thompson continued.
“There’s a chance it could happen,” Ross continued.
“Well maybe not on FS1 but somewhere,” said Thompson.
“Somewhere, it’ll be worked out folks,” Ross concluded.
