The Hart Foundation is a multi-generational pro-wrestling stable. The original tag-team of Bret Hart and Jim “the Anvil” Neidhart became one of the greatest tag teams in history. The 1997 faction of the same name then played a pivotal role during the Monday Night War era.
Now in Major League Wrestling, the Hart Foundation is winning tag team and middleweight gold. They are also helping to introduce a young Brian Pillman Jr. to the professional ranks.
While the Hart Foundation continues its takeover of MLW, let’s run down the top 12 victories in Hart Foundation history. Before we do, however, a few ground rules for this list should be discussed. The first is that for a victory to count on this list 2 or more Hart Foundation members must have been aligned at the time. This means individual victories by Hart family members do not qualify for this list.
Also, while there has been an attempt to organize these victories in order of importance, this list should not be seen as a ranking but rather an honoring of 12 great moments in Hart Foundation history.
The below video runs down the top 12 victories in Hart Foundation history or you can navigate through all 12 victories in the post below.
12. Bret Hart Defeats the Patriot
An arguably underrated moment in the Hart Foundation 1997 storyline is when Bret Hart defended the WWF title against the Patriot at IYH: Ground Zero on September 7th, 1997. Weeks earlier, the Patriot had actually defeated Bret Hart in a non-title match on RAW. It was just the Patriot’s 2nd televised match in WWE. He’d lost via count-out to Hunter Hearst Helmsley the week prior.
Not only would Bret win the match with his patented Sharpshooter, but he would also continue the beatdown after the match. Bret would leave Patriot draped unconscious in the American flag as he exited the ring area. It was a statement victory for Hart and a definitive one at that.
