AEW Officially Signs Dean Malenko

AEW sent out a press release today announcing the official signing of Dean Malenko as a Producer and Coach.

“Dean Malenko has been a massive force behind some of today’s biggest wrestling stars,” said Cody. “He’s never stopped being a major talent who was part of the ECW revolution as well as a fixture in the cruiserweight movement on Nitro.”

“It’s not often you get an opportunity late in your career to be a part of building something from the ground floor,” Malenko said. “The freedom to be able to contribute uninhibited will only lend itself to foster creativity and produce an outstanding product. I’m excited about what the future holds for AEW, and I can’t wait to be part of the journey.”

Hangman Page Not Cleared To Compete At Double or Nothing

On the latest BTE, Hangman Page noted that his knee is injured via his beating from PAC in England. As a result, Page will not be cleared to compete on PPV this weekend.

“Hey guys, I am checking in because apparently, it’s my responsibility to tell you that due to recent events I will not be allowed to compete at Double Or Nothing.

I am sure that none of you are as disappointed or pissed off about the entire situation than I am. But I will still be at Starrcast on Friday doing meet and greet and I am sure that the entire show in itself will be great.” (Transcription: SEScoops.com)

Shane Helms Returned His Pay From All In

Shane Helms took part in an interview with Fightful and said that he returned his pay from All In last year.

“Cody was worried about insulting me by offering me something he thought was beneath me. I was like ‘Bro. No. Whatever you need, I’ll do.’ He paid me and I sent it back.”

Rey Mysterio Shoulder Injury Update

Mysterio suffered a shoulder injury at Money in the Bank. He posted the following update on his condition to Instagram:

There is no timetable for his return at this point.

Jim Ross Interview With ESPN

Jim Ross recently took part in an interview with ESPN and talked about his role with AEW.

“I’m going to do all I can to help this young group. Share what I got, what knowledge I have, what expertise I have, whether it be in the infrastructure of the talent relations department or other areas. As a senior adviser, I can advise anyone in the company, especially the president. So I may be as much as Tony Khan’s consigliere as any other job.”

AEW To Drug Test Wrestlers

It was noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter this week that there will be a drug-testing program in AEW. No details other than that are known, however.

“I don’t know the details but the full-time contracts the talent signed does include a drug testing provision and there are plans to implement a drug testing program,” wrote Dave Meltzer.
