One of the greatest champions in pro-wrestling history, Pedro Morales, has died. Morales was 76. WWE sent out the following in recognition of the WWE Hall of Famers life:

Morales is a former 1x WWWF Champion. The title’s lineage leads up to Daniel Bryan’s current WWE Championship. Morales won the title from Ivan Koloff in 1971 and lost it to Stan Stasiak in 1973. His 1027 days spent with the WWE title is 5th all-time and the 1971-73 title run is the 4th longest in the history of the title.

Morales is also the longest running Intercontinental Champion of all-time, having spent 619 days with the title between 2 title reigns in the early 1980s. The Miz is just 20 days short of his record, however. Morales also held the WWE tag-team championships with Bob Backlund.

He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 1995.
