MLW SuperFight 2/2/19 aired live on BeIN Sports on Saturday. Two championship matches headlined the show.

“Filthy” Tom Lawlor is the new MLW World Heavyweight Champion. He becomes just the 7th person in history to win the title after defeating Low-Ki on Saturday from the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia. Shane Douglas, Satoshi Kojima, Mike Awesome, Steve Corino, Shane Strickland, and Low-Ki are the only other wrestlers to have worn the belt.

Lawlor earned his title shot by winning the 40-Man Battle Riot match held last year. Following his victory, however, Lawlor was attacked at a press conference. The promotion has not released too many details regarding Lawlor’s injuries or attackers, however.

Teddy Hart and Davey Boy Smith Jr. won the tag titles by defeating Pentagon and Fenix, the Lucha Bros. Following the Hart Foundation winning the tag titles, MLW sent out the following Tweet:

While the Hart Foundation was celebrating backstage, however, MJF interrupted. He made it clear he wants a shot at Teddy Hart’s middleweight championship. MJF was the champion until an elbow injury forced him to vacate the title in late 2018.

MLW News and Notes:

  • The promotion’s next live event will take place on March 2nd from Chicago’s Cicero Stadium.
  • MLW: SuperFight II will take place in Los Angeles in 2020.
  • The promotion will return to Philadelphia on June 1st. 2019.
