News & Updates

  • The big news coming out of the 2-night Honor Rising event is the title vs title tag-team title match booked for the G1 Supercard from MSG. With the Guerillas of Destiny defeating Evil and Sanada and the Briscoes defeating Fin Juice, the closing moment of Honor Rising involved the two teams booking themselves against each other with each team’s titles on the line.
  • The Briscoes still have a big test ahead of them in ROH before they get to Madison Square Garden, however. They are scheduled to defend their titles against PCO & Brody King at ROH’s Anniversary show on March 15th.
  • NJPW plans to release the names of all 16 New Japan Cup participants tomorrow. The winner of the tournament will move on to face Jay White for the title at Madison Square Garden on April 6th.
  • Jushin Liger picked up a pinfall victory over IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, Taiji Ishimori in a preliminary tag match on night 2. Liger won with a roll-up and we’ll look to do the same on March 6th when he challenges Ishimori on the NJPW Anniversary show.
  • Toru Yano and Colt Cabana formed a new comedy-centric tag-team on the shows as well. This was as a result of Yano’s frequent cheating and Delirious growing upset with Cabana for shaking Yano’s hand after their match on night 1.
  • Dalton Castle was said to be upset in the back following his loss in a NEVER Openweight title match to Will Ospreay. Castle has seemed irritated in general as of late, especially at his boys. The boys didn’t make the trip to Korakuen Hall but all the same, Castle seems moody lately.
  • Will Ospreay pinned Jeff Cobb in tag action on night 2. Considering nobody has pinned Cobb in ROH, this result could set up a future match between the two. Both had defended their titles successfully on night 1. Perhaps Ospreay will want a crack at Cobb’s ROH TV title as a result.
  • Finally, David Finlay dislocated his shoulder on night 2. The shoulder was popped back into place and Finlay says he’s just waiting to get the injury assessed.
  • Jay Lethal made more history on the tour as well. He defended his title for the 39th time (across both of his world title reigns), passing Nigel McGuiness and Bryan Danielson who he was each tied with for the record of most all time. Lethal defeated TK O’Ryan on night 2 and now has only Matt Taven of the Kingdom left to go.
